Nicolas Horvath, a pianist how eclectic and a man of challenges both in concert and on record, has always sought out the new.

To celebrate this music of astonishing variety, he uses a light and nimble touch, aiming to get as close as possible to the way of playing the pianoforte at the time of the 18th century. Although on a modern Steinway, the result is undeniably convincing with regard to the naturalness of the gesture, the attention to color and the emphasis on contrasts for more vitality. It goes without saying that all the technical difficulties concealed by these parts are assimilated. What the studio recording highlights with its matte acoustics, recreating the intimate atmosphere of a living room.
